The memorial, built in conjunction with the 1998 restoration of Capitol Square, honors veterans who have served in conflicts since World War II.

The Square
Two large-scale limestone walls are the central piece of the memorial. Each is inscribed with real correspondences sent by Ohio soldiers on the fronts to their families and friends. Fountains, benches and gardens provide a little room for contemplation. A Gateway
