Overview
The Columbus Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1950. Performing a 46-week season of classical and pops concerts, the Columbus Symphony features the world's greatest soloists and musicians, such as Luciano Pavarotti and Joshua Bell.
The Experience
The fully professional orchestra, led by artistic director Alessandro Siciliani, also performs outdoors each summer on the lawn of Chemical Abstracts near Ohio State University. These Picnic with the Pops concerts are a great family outing with celebrity guest artists from the world of popular music. The symphony reaches more than 450,000 people with its live performances and broadcasts on the local public radio station. Columbus culture connoisseurs also can hear different variations of the orchestra when the symphony accompanies BalletMet, Opera Columbus and Columbus Light Opera performances.
