Citysearch overview is outdated but theatre is still worth a visit..
This theatre is huge, plenty of seating and showtime choices. However, the citysearch overview is outdated. This AMC theatre is no longer part of planet movies. The "nostalgia alley" does not exist anymore and the additional concessions are never open when I visit, during the day. I can't say if they open at night. I'd call if that is what interests you.
The theatre is also showing it's years and needs some updates. The carpet smells musty and needs to be cleaned. The seats are showing their dirt and stains. I think cleaning these items would make the theatre seem new again. However, these are the only drawbacks. Every seat's arm rests lift up. During the day, it is rarely crowded so this means that you can stretch out like on a couch at home. There are rarely projection problems. The single time that I experienced a problem, I was given twice as many free passes as I had purchased for that day's showing, in addition to geting to see the movie that day. A clear bonus that saved my business. Also durng the day, there are friendly ticket takers and concessions workers. Still, get there early, the concession line can take a bit of time. Pre-shows start early, so you'll be enteretained if you have to wait. There are also plenty of very clean restrooms that are just steps away from every screen.
Overall, this theater is my favorite in Columbus, easily beating out the more crowded and less courteous theatre in my neighborhood. I would love to see the carpet and chairs cleaned to make Easton a five star choice again. There is also plenty of free parking in garages just steps away.
My Favorite Theater Experience. When I was visiting family in Columbus, my fiance and I stopped at the AMC in the shopping center. Before the movie, we went to the Cheesecake Factory and purchased a few slices of cheesecake to go. We then bought a beverage from AMC and went to sit in our theater. We sat in the back, and the chairs were huge. It was amazing. There we were, sitting in lazy boy chairs, eating cheesecake and watching a great movie. Any movie theater that allows Cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory gets an A+ in my book.
Grab some hot munchies, cool ice cream or a cold brew and head into any one of the 30 theatres..
The Setting
The 30-screen Easton, a.k.a. Planet Movies, is located inside Easton Station, the mall-like structure in the middle of Easton Town Square. It's the biggest movie theater in the Columbus area, and it boasts cushy, reclining stadium seating.
Tickets
Buy advance tickets over the phone, at the ticket booth or by using your credit or debit card at ATM-like ticket dispensers.
Stuff Your Face
Forget the popcorn--here, you can get ice cream at Cool Planet, individually boxed pizza slices at Lights, Camera, Pizza and hot finger foods like chicken tenders at Planet Express. Beer and wine also are available, and Planet Movies is one of the only theaters in town that allows you to take actual food into the theater.
Nostalgia Alley
Just before the stairs that lead up to the theaters is an ever-rotating collection of movie memorabilia, some of it unique, like Vivien Leigh's Blanche DuBois dress from "A Streetcar Named Desire," some of it fun, like the dog car from "Dumb and Dumber," and some of it downright silly, like Bruce Willis' spotless khakis from "Die Hard." With the demise of the Planet Hollywood restaurant and the All Star Cafe, the memorabilia soon will be history.
Expensive. Pricey, bad projection, and the movie is sold out? This is the worst example of big chain mentality in columbus. The high prices and crowds are good for AMC, not you. The only redeeming quality is that 30 screens equals variety. But with multiple screens showing the same blockbusters combined with the lower profitability of indie films, this 30-screener is rarely showing more films than the nearby Movies 16. And that theater has lower prices, better film quality, and a liberal food smuggling policy.
Circling the drain . . .. AMC Easton Town Center 30 was a great place to see a movie. Now it is deteriorating. This theatre is always busy so it must be making some profits. It is time for money to be reinvested in the maintenance and refurbishing of the theatres. The floors and seats are dirty. Some of this just needs cleaning and some items need to be replaced. The selection of films is average--standard multiplex fare. The location is terrific with lots of restaurants, parking, shopping, and entertainment close by. It's a shame not to put some money back in this cash cow.
movie of the year. Chicago is probably the best movie musical I've ever seen! It totally rocks! Every actor in this movie deserves a big fat award for their work. One and only criticism: why abandon Bob Fosse's choreography? The only way this musical could've been better is if the choreography had remained true to the Fosse legend.
couple comfort. The impresion of a movie can be made better or worse by how comfortable you are seated. The fact that the arm rests at Easton lift up gives you not only a roomy seat, but also the ability to cuddly with the one you are with. This always makes a good movie even better.
The Feel. the place is nice, very open and easy to fine and park at. there are vending units like a bank ATM for tickets if you have a Master Card. and a bank atm right there next to the ticket both. all so good food in the mall area and nice shoping as well
